The South East Asia Conference on Mercury in Health Care was organized by Health Care Without Harm in association with UNEP, and with the support of the Philippine Heart Center, Department of Health, and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources. More than 175 participants from eleven countries attended. Most were from the Philippines. The majority were hospital administrators and government officials who are in a position to initiate administrative changes in their own facilities toward delivering mercury-free health care. The results of the Conference included ten specific products that will serve to further the promotion of mercury free health care in South East Asia: the Manila Declaration, Mercury Clean Up Kit, Increased Public Awareness, Philippine Department of Health Commitment, Mercury Free Pledge, Malaysia Pre-Conference, Working Groups Plans of Action, South East Asian Working Group, Identification of Alternatives Manufacturers, Synergy with Other Initiatives.
