Pharmaceutical products (PPs) are often insufficiently removed from wastewater via treatment processes; hence their persistence in the environment could increase the risk of toxicity and influence flora and fauna. The complexity of the problem, along with the fragmentary research approaches impedes the necessary holistic understanding of the risks and impacts of PPs presence in the environment.
This final activity report highlights the project objectives, and summarises the utilised methodology. Moreover, the document analyses the principal KNAPPE achievements in comparison to the state of the art. Finally, the outputs of the organised events and a series of formulated recommendations are presented.
