Sydney — The Climate and Health and Alliance and Australian Hospitals and Healthcare Association are co-hosting a Policy Think Tank as part of AHHA's regular schedule of events - this time it's a'Greening the Health Sector' forum.
This event will feature the Australian launch of the Global Green and Healthy Hospitals Agenda, the new tool for health care settings around the world, developed by the Climate and Health Alliance's new international partner, Health Care Without Harm.
It is increasingly recognized that hospitals and healthcare have a significant impact on environmental health. This forum will kickstart the conversation about how the Australian health system can be strengthened through the promotion of greater sustainability and environmental protection, with the beneficiaries being improved environmental and population health, better bottom lines and improved staff morale.
Dr Peter Orris, Senior Advisor to Health Care Without Harm (HCWH), will be coming out from Chicago; we will also have Dr Kate Charlesworth, newly returned to Australia after working in the Sustainable Development Unit (SDU) in the UK's National Health Service (NHS); and CAHA expert advisory committee member Professor Tony Capon from the University of Canberra.
Save the Date! Make sure you put the date in your diary to come and participate in this important discussion on how the health care sector can play a leadership role in supporting Australia's low carbon transition and reducing the sector's environmental footprint.
